How do I clean my Tadelakt Shower?

Clean Tadelakt with gentle, pH-neutral, plant-based products — never acidic cleaners, bleach, or abrasives.

To clean your Tadelakt shower, use gentle, plant-based products — never harsh or acidic cleaners. Routine cleaning keeps Earthaus Tadelakt surfaces beautiful, water-repellent, and free from soap residue or mineral buildup.

Recommended Cleaning Approach

Daily / after use:

  1. Rinse the Tadelakt surface with clean, warm water after each shower.

  2. Use a squeegee or soft cloth to wipe down the surface and remove standing water.

  3. Allow the surface to dry between uses when possible.

Periodic cleaning:

  1. Use a pH-neutral, plant-based soap or cleaning solution.

  2. Apply with a soft cloth or sponge — never use abrasive pads, scrubbers, or brushes.

  3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and wipe dry.

Products to Avoid

The following products can damage the Olive Oil Soap Seal and degrade the Tadelakt finish:

  • Acidic cleaners (vinegar, citric acid, lemon-based products)

  • Bleach or chlorine-based products

  • Abrasive scrubs or powders

  • Alkaline or ammonia-based cleaners

  • Oil-based soaps not designed for lime surfaces

Why it matters: Harsh chemicals break down the water-repellent soap layer, exposing the lime plaster to moisture damage and staining.

Mineral Buildup and Hard Water

In areas with hard water, calcium deposits may form on the surface over time.

  • Do not use acidic descalers or vinegar to remove mineral deposits, as these will etch the finish.

  • Instead, use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and gently buff the affected area.

  • For persistent buildup, contact Earthaus technical support for guidance.
