What Is Primer Grit?

Earthaus Primer Grit is a fine-grained pumice aggregate formulated as an additive for interior water-based latex primer. It is applied over level-4 finished drywall or previously painted walls before plaster application to improve adhesion.

Which Finishes Use Primer Grit?

Recommended for interior Earthaus finishes:

Not for use:

Lime Slurry: most Lime Slurry applications are over porous masonry and use no primer at all — but in the rare case Lime Slurry is applied over a primed surface (drywall or painted walls), add Primer Grit to the primer.

Packaging & Coverage

  • One 3 lb package contains 5 cups of Primer Grit.

  • Mixing ratio: 1 cup Primer Grit per 1 gallon of primer.

  • One full package (5 cups) mixes into 5 gallons of primer.

Properties

  • Free-flowing granular powder.

  • Increases adhesion of plaster.

Suitable Primer Brands

Earthaus does not manufacture primer. Choose primers with zero to low VOCs. Examples:

  • Sherwin Williams: ProMar® 200 Zero VOC Interior Latex Primer; Multi-Purpose Latex Primer/Sealer

Storage

Unused Primer Grit stores indefinitely if kept dry.
